Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge over northeast New South Wales. The high will remain slow-moving over the next couple of days. A low pressure trough and its associated cloud band is expected to move closer to the southwestern border areas today and on Wednesday, then across the state later in the week.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers along the northern coast. Isolated showers in the southwest, more widespread near the SA border. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, becoming generally light and variable further inland.Wednesday 9 AprilRain areas over the southwestern inland, but gradually extending eastwards to reach the Far South Coast by the end of the day. Rain most widespread near the SA border and over the Alps. Isolated light showers possible along central parts of the coast. Early fog patches on the ranges. Fine elsewhere. East to southeasterly winds.Thursday 10 AprilRain over the south, clearing to showers near the SA border but becoming more widespread rain over the southeast of the state during the day. The chance of afternoon storms near the SA border. Isolated showers about the southern and central coasts. Mostly fine across the northeast. East to southeasterly winds near the coast, tending east to northeasterly inland.Friday 11 AprilRain over the southeastern third of the state, clearing to scattered showers during the morning over most areas but continuing as rain over the south and central west slopes. Isolated showers over the northeast and southwest. The chance of thunderstorms over much of the state, although remaining fine over the northwest. Westerly winds over the western half of the state, north to northeasterly winds over the eastern half.Saturday 12 AprilIsolated showers over the slopes, ranges and coast, more widespread over the western slopes. Fine over the inland apart from the chance of an isolated shower over the Riverina district. Northwest to southwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
