Mostly fine conditions are expected over the remainder of the state.Wednesday 9 AprilTropical Cyclone Ita will most likely move further west over the northern Coral Sea while still remaining offshore of the north Queensland coast. Showers and thunderstorms will continue about the northern Peninsula, with isolated to scattered showers along the northeast tropical coast. A new high will enter the Tasman Sea, reinforcing the ridge through central and southern Queensland waters with isolated showers expected about the exposed coast. Fine and mostly sunny conditions are expected elsewhere in the state.Thursday 10 AprilTropical Cyclone Ita will most likely move further west over the northern Coral Sea towards the far northern Queensland coast, however there is much uncertainty to the development and movement of the tropical cyclone. Showers are likely to increase in the Peninsula during the day as the tropical cyclone approaches the coast. The Tasman Sea high will move east over New Zealand and maintain a ridge along the Queensland coast with showers likely in the onshore wind flow. The upper trough will approach southwestern Queensland with possible showers or thunderstorms developing near the southwestern Queensland border, though little or no rainfall expected. Fine and mostly sunny conditions are expected elsewhere in the state.Friday until SundayTropical Cyclone Ita will most likely move west across far northern Queensland and through the northern Gulf of Carpentaria during the outlook period, however there is much uncertainty to the development and movement of the tropical cyclone. Rain areas and thunderstorms with some locally heavy falls should extend through the far northern tropics due to the passage of the system.
