Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high centred near Tasmania will drift slowly southeastwards to the southern Tasman Sea by Monday. A trough of low pressure over Western Australia will move into the west of South Australia on Monday and remain the dominant feature this week.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers and thunderstorms west of about Marla with isolated showers and thunderstorms possibly reaching Oodnadatta to Elliston this evening. Cool to mild with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, moderate to fresh northeasterly in the far west.Monday 7 AprilWidespread showers and scattered thunderstorms over the North West Pastoral district west of about Coober Pedy and Tarcoola, grading to isolated showers and possible thunderstorms reaching a line Kingscote to Leigh Creek. Possible showers extending a little further east to reach a line about Murray Bridge to Moomba later in the day. Generally warm with moderate north to northeasterly winds, fresh in the west.Tuesday 8 AprilA band of rain and possible thunder developing over central parts of the Pastoral districts, extending southwards over Eyre Peninsula and the Flinders district during the day. Patchy rain extending further east and south to remaining agricultural areas and the North East Pastoral district south of Moomba. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms persisting west of the band of rain. Possible heavy falls over the north of the North West Pastoral district. Hot in the far northeast, grading to mild in the rain areas. Mainly light to moderate northerly winds shifting southerly in the far west during the day.Wednesday 9 AprilA band of rain and possible thunder extending throughout South Australia apart from the far northeast corner, mostly centred about a line through Coober Pedy to Clare, grading to patchy rain over the southeast corner of the State. Possible heavy falls over districts adjacent to northern Spencer Gulf and eastern parts of the North West Pastoral district. Generally cool to mild with the rain, grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Mainly light and variable winds.Thursday 10 April
Areas of rain and possible thunder mostly over the North East Pastoral district and the agricultural areas contracting south and east during the day. Isolated showers following the band of rain, increasing to scattered showers over coastal districts. Possible heavy falls southeast of a line about Cleve to Broken Hill before easing to showers during day. Generally cool to mild, grading to mild to warm in the far northeast. Light and variable winds with the rain, becoming light to moderate southwesterly from the west.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday afternoon to midnight Thursday are expected to be 20 to 60 mm over much of the State. Less than 5 mm is forecast for areas northeast of Moomba. Heavier falls of 60 to 100 mm are likely over northern parts of the North West Pastoral district, with local falls in excess of 60mm possible over central districts.
Friday until SundayScattered showers over agricultural areas and isolated showers over Pastoral districts, all easing and contracting southwards early in the period, clearing during the weekend. Remaining mild to warm. Mainly light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Monday.Product IDS10033
