Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high south of Kangaroo Island will drift slowly eastwards towards the southern Tasman Sea by Monday. A trough of low pressure over WA will move into the west of South Australia on Monday and remain the dominant feature through the week.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPossible isolated showers and thunderstorms about the far northwest and far northeast corners. Possible isolated light showers or drizzle clearing from the Lower South East district early evening. A generally cool evening with light southeasterly winds, tending easterly in the west.Sunday 6 AprilScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms west of about Ernabella to Nullarbor, with isolated showers possibly reaching as far east as Elliston and Oodnadatta by the end of the day. Areas of morning fog east of the Mount Lofty Ranges. Mild to warm with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, becoming moderate to fresh northeasterly in the far west.Monday 7 AprilScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing west of about Elliston to Oodnadatta, with isolated showers extending further east and possibly reaching Murray Bridge to Moomba by the end of the day. Generally warm with moderate north to northeasterly winds, fresh in the west.Tuesday 8 AprilIsolated showers or patchy rain gradually developing over eastern districts, apart from the far northeast corner, increasing to scattered showers or areas of rain west of Spencer Gulf to Oodnadatta. The chance of isolated thunderstorms in the west. Hot in the far northeast. Mild to warm elsewhere. Mainly light to moderate northerly winds shifting southwesterly in the far west during the day.Wednesday 9 April
Patchy rain over the southeast corner of the State, with areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms extending throughout the rest of South Australia apart from the far northeast corner. Generally mild, grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Mainly light and variable winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday to midnight Wednesday are expected to be 15 to 40 mm over much of the State with 5 to 15 mm in the southeast corner and less than 5 mm in the far northeast corner. Falls of 40 to 80 mm are possible over northern parts of the North West Pastoral district. Please note that the rainfall totals are up to Wednesday night and the rainfall event continues through to Friday for central and southeastern parts of the State.
Thursday until SaturdayAreas of rain extending throughout on Thursday before moving eastwards and clearing the eastern border during Friday. Isolated showers following the rain, mostly about the southern agricultural area and the western coast. Remaining generally mild with light and variable winds becoming light northerly late in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Sunday.Product IDS10033
