MELBOURNE - Apr 3/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure extends from the Bight across southern Tasmania to the Tasman Sea. Meanwhile, a low pressure trough over far eastern Victoria will move slowly westwards today to reach central Victoria tonight. A low pressure system is then forecast to develop to the east of Bass Strait tonight before moving further east across the Tasman Sea during Saturday. The next high pressure system will drift eastwards over Tasmania on Sunday and will be centred over the south Tasmania Sea on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, tending scattered in the east and spreading to rain over the far east. Fine and partly cloudy in the northwest. Cool to mild with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds, tending east to southeast over central and eastern regions.Fire Danger - High in the northwest, low to moderate elsewhere.Saturday 5 AprilRain over far east Gippsland, easing to showers during the day. Mostly cloudy with isolated showers elsewhere in the south, more frequent about the coast. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds in the south, light winds in the north.Sunday 6 AprilIsolated showers over Gippsland clearing during the day. Fine over the remainder of the State. Partly cloudy in the east and south, sunny over the northern inland. Mild with moderate southeast winds, fresh at times over Gippsland.Monday 7 AprilFine. Partly cloudy in the east and south, mainly sunny over the remainder.
