MELBOURNE - Apr 3/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over the far northeast will move slowly westwards across central Victoria during Friday. A high pressure system west of Tasmania will move over the south Tasman Sea on Friday as a low pressure system develops east of Bass Strait, and then moves away across the Tasman Sea during Saturday. Another high pressure system will drifts eastwards over Tasmania on Sunday to be located over the south Tasmania Sea on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain over eastern districts, contracting to the northeast border this evening. Remaining cloudy over southern areas with isolated light showers or drizzle, mainly near the coast. Light to moderate southerly winds.Friday 4 AprilRain areas redeveloping over eastern districts during the day with moderate falls. Remaining cloudy elsewhere in the south with isolated showers extending to southern central and western areas during the afternoon. Fine but partly cloudy in the northwest. Cool to mild with moderate southerly winds, tending east to southeast over central and eastern regions during the day and freshening along the coast.Fire Danger - High in the northwest, low to moderate elsewhere.Saturday 5 AprilRain over Gippsland, easing to showers during the day. Mostly cloudy with isolated showers elsewhere in the south, more frequent about the coast. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds in the south, light winds in the north.Sunday 6 AprilIsolated showers over Gippsland clearing during the day. Fine over the remainder of the State. Partly cloudy in the east and south, sunny over the northern inland. Mild with moderate southeast winds, fresh at times over Gippsland.Monday 7 AprilFine.
