MELBOURNE - Apr 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak high pressure system is located in the Tasman Sea while a cold front and associated trough move across the Bight. The cold front and trough will enter western districts early Wednesday morning, crossing central districts by the afternoon then moving east of the State by Wednesday evening, although the trough will likely remain over the northeast. Another high pressure system will move from the Bight to be centred near Tasmania late Thursday. The high will move into the south Tasman Sea on Friday as a low pressure system develops east of Bass Strait. The low will deepen east of Bass Strait on Saturday with an associated high pressure ridge extending over western Victoria. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers over the eastern ranges with isolated thunderstorms possible, clearing in the evening. Moderate to fresh northerly winds.Wednesday 2 AprilA band of showers crossing the State but only isolated showers over the northwest. The chance of thunderstorms in central and eastern districts. Mild to warm over the north and east with moderate to fresh northerly winds, but cooler south to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Fire Danger - High in the west and south.Thursday 3 AprilShowers in central and eastern districts, contracting eastwards during the day. Isolated thunderstorms in the northeast clearing. Cool to mild with moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly winds.Friday 4 AprilRain areas in the east, tending to isolated showers in central districts. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southeast to easterly winds.Saturday 5 AprilWidespread showers in the east, tending to isolated showers in central districts.
