WASHINGTON - Mar 31/14 - SNS -- American farmers intend to plant 12.0 million acres of spring wheat other than durum this year, up 4% from 2013, according to the USDA's seeding intentions estimates for 2014.
Of the total, about 11.3 million acres are Hard Red Spring wheat. The largest acreage increases from the previous year are expected in North Dakota and Washington. If realized, planted acres will be a record low in Colorado.
