WASHINGTON - Mar 31/14 - SNS -- Sorghum growers intend to plant 6.68 million acres of sorghum for all purposes in 2014, down 17% from last year, according to the USDA's seeding intentions estimates for 2014.
Kansas and Texas, the leading sorghum producing States, account for 75% of the expected United States acreage.
As of March 23, Texas growers had planted 15% of their crop, 17 percentage points behind last year and 16 percentage points behind the 5-year average.
