MELBOURNE - Mar 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge lies over the Queensland's east coast, and is expected to strengthen from Monday. A surface trough lies over the interior. A series of upper level troughs will track east over the southern half of the state during the forecast period. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMainly isolated showers and storms across the state, more widespread over the northern and central interior districts. Fine and mostly sunny over the western interior. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds across most of the state, fresh at times about the tropical east coast. Light to moderate south to southwest winds over the western interior.Sunday 30 MarchScattered scattered showers and storms over the much of the state, and fine and mostly sunny over the western interior. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds across most of the state, fresh at times about the tropical east coast. Light to moderate south to southwest winds over the western interior.Monday 31 MarchScattered scattered showers and storms over most southern districts, and more isolated activity over much of the remainder of the state. Fine and mostly sunny over the western interior.Tuesday 1 AprilMainly isolated showers and thunderstorms through the eastern and far northern districts. Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the southern interior, and fine and mostly sunny over the western interior. Very warm in the southwest.Wednesday 2 AprilScattered showers and storms over the southern interior, and more isolated activity over the remainder of the state.Thursday until SaturdayA ridge of high pressure will persist over the east coast, pushing showers over the tropical east coast and the Peninsula district, and keeping most of the remainder of the state fine and mostly sunny.
