Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is drifting towards the New Zealand north island, while a surface trough will move through the northeast this evening. Another high pressure system over the Bight will move towards Tasmania, weakening as it crosses Tasmania later Saturday and early Sunday. A ridge of high pressure will then persist over eastern Victoria through till Tuesday, when the next cold front will move across the Bight to enter the southwest of the State late in the day.
Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers and thunderstorms over eastern districts contracting to the far northeast and mostly clearing this evening. Isolated showers or thunderstorms possible this evening over inland western areas. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, extending throughout the east this evening.Saturday 29 MarchMorning fog patches inland and isolated morning showers or drizzle over East Gippsland. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing over western districts and near the central and eastern ranges in the afternoon. Warm with light winds tending west to northwesterly inland and milder afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Sunday 30 MarchMorning fog patches. Isolated afternoon showers over Gippsland and the chance of a thunderstorm about the ranges. Otherwise fine an mainly sunny. Warm over the inland with light to moderate northerly winds. Milder in the south with afternoon seabreezes developing along the coast.Monday 31 MarchIsolated showers possible over the far southwest in the afternoon and evening, otherwise fine and mainly sunny. Warm to very warm with light to moderate northerly winds and local afternoon seabreezes near the Gippsland coast.Tuesday 1 AprilIsolated showers possible over the far southwest in the afternoon and evening, otherwise fine and mainly sunny. Warm to very warm with light to moderate northerly winds, freshening in the southwest and shifting west to southwesterly in the evening.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
