Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 27/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is centred over the Tasman Sea while a broad trough extends through western Queensland and New South Wales. This trough will move eastwards today as the high weakens and a cold front passes to the south. A low is expected to deepen within the trough as it moves off the coast later today, with a new, although fairly feeble, ridge extending across the state from the west. A weak pressure pattern is then expected to remain a feature of the region through the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas in the northeast and about central parts of the coast, clearing during the morning or early afternoon. Locally heavy falls possible along the northern coast. Showers elsewhere, becoming scattered through much of the southeast and central inland during the afternoon, with isolated thunderstorms. Northeast to northwesterly winds near the coast, locally freshening and turning south to southwesterly during the afternoon. Winds inland mostly light and variable, though likely gusty near thunderstorms.Saturday 29 MarchMorning fog patches. The chance of showers in the east and south, more likely near the southern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light and variable winds inland, tending south to southwesterly along the coast.Sunday 30 MarchIsolated showers in the east, with possible thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, tending easterly inland.Monday 31 MarchIsolated showers in the northeast, expected mainly in the far northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Friday.Product IDN10031
