Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is building to the east of Tasmania and will be centred over the Tasman Sea today while an inland trough will be near the western Victorian border. The trough will move eastwards across Victoria on Friday and weaken as it approaches the Tasman Sea High. Another high pressure system over the Bight will extend a ridge toward Tasmania later Friday before weakening as the next cold front enters the Bight on Saturday. This front is likely to cross the Bight to be approaching western Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas over central and eastern districts, grading to isolated showers across the west. The chance of thunderstorms over most areas. Mild day with moderate northeasterly winds, freshening near the coast and over the eastern ranges. Light south to southeasterly winds in the west.Fire Danger -  Low to Moderate.Friday 28 MarchIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms contracting to eastern districts in the afternoon then mostly clearing at night. Mild in the south, warm in the north with light to moderate northerly winds tending light southerly from the west.Saturday 29 MarchIsolated showers or drizzle in the south, contracting to east Gippsland in the afternoon and clearing at night. Warm with light winds tending northerly inland and milder afternoon coastal seabreezes.Sunday 30 MarchFine and partly cloudy. Warm in the south and east, very warm in the northwest with light to moderate northerly winds freshening over elevated areas. Milder afternoon seabreezes developing along the Gippsland coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
