Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high lies over the southern Tasman Sea while a trough extends from northern Queensland through western New South Wales. The inland trough is forecast to begin moving eastwards later today, with a transient low expected to develop off the New South Wales coast by the end of Friday. This system should move rapidly away to the east during the weekend as the high over the Tasman Sea weakens and a new, although fairly feeble, ridge extends across the state.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas over the eastern half of the state, easing gradually through the southeast, but becoming heavy about the North West Slopes and Plains and the Northern Tablelands districts later in the day. Showers and possible thunderstorms in the west, mainly through the afternoon. Chiefly northeast to southeasterly winds, fresh along much of the coast.Friday 28 MarchRain areas through eastern and central districts, heaviest in the far northeast, and easing in the southeast during the day. Isolated showers in the west. The chance of thunderstorms in most districts. North to northwesterly winds.Saturday 29 MarchIsolated showers in the east, with the chance of thunderstorms in the far northeast. Fine and mostly sunny in the west. Variable winds tending northeast to northwesterly.Sunday 30 MarchIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
