MELBOURNE - Mar 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough lies from the northern inland through to southern parts of the coast with a small low pressure system sitting off the South Coast. A cold, moist and unstable upper atmosphere over southern parts of the state is combining with this surface trough to bring persistent rain to much of eastern NSW, locally heavy along southern parts of the coast and adjacent ranges. This trough will move eastwards during Thursday and Friday, with a high pressure ridge extending across the state during Saturday and Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas over the eastern half of the state. Scattered showers elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms, most widespread near the South Australian border. East to northeasterly winds.Thursday 27 MarchRain areas over the eastern half of the state, heaviest and most persistent over the North West Slopes and Plains and the Northern Tablelands. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the west. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Friday 28 MarchRain areas through eastern and central districts, heaviest and most widespread along far northern parts of the coast and ranges. Easing in the south during the day. Isolated showers in the west. Isolated thunderstorms possible in most districts. North to northwest winds.Saturday 29 MarchIsolated showers in the east, with the chance of thunderstorms in the far northeast. Variable winds tending northeast to northwest.Sunday 30 MarchIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere.
