Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will move across Tasmania today, and will be centred over the Tasman Sea on Thursday. Meanwhile, an inland trough stretching from western New South Wales to western Victoria will move slowly westwards today and will be centred near the western Victorian border on Thursday. The trough will then move eastwards across Victoria on Friday, with a low pressure expected to form to the east of Tasmania Friday night. The next cold front will approach the Bight later Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms, mainly this afternoon and evening, and tending to rain areas in the east. Mild to warm day with moderate east to southeasterly winds, freshening near the coast.Fire Danger -  High in the north and west.Thursday 27 MarchRain areas over central and eastern areas, grading to isolated showers across the west. The chance of thunderstorms over most areas. Mild day with moderate northeasterly winds, freshening near the coast. Light southerly winds in the far west.Friday 28 MarchRain areas and isolated thunderstorms over central and eastern areas, contracting eastwards and easing to showers during the day. Isolated showers clearing in the west. Mild in the south, warm in the north with moderate northerly winds shifting west to southwesterly.Saturday 29 MarchIsolated showers in the east and south, contracting to the east during the morning and clearing by the evening. Chance of a thunderstorm in the east. Warm with light winds tending northerly inland and afternoon seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
