Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A lingering trough lies from the northern inland through to southern parts of the coast and is associated with a cold front near New Zealand. A cold, moist and and unstable upper atmosphere over southern parts of the state is combining with the surface trough to bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to southern parts of the coast and adjacent ranges. A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the northern coast, while a second high pressure system over the Bight extends another ridge across Tasmania. The high pressure system over the Bight is forecast to move into the Tasman Sea today, where it will become slow moving and the inland trough will continue to move further to the west towards South Australia. The inland trough will begin to move eastwards again later in the week.
