MELBOURNE - Mar 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight will ridge across Tasmania on Tuesday to reach the Tasman Sea by early Wednesday. Meanwhile, an inland trough will develop over northern Victoria, moving westwards on Wednesday as the high strengthens in the Tasman Sea. A small low pressure system will form over western Victoria on Thursday as a weakening cold front moves through the Southern Ocean. This low will deepen over western Bass Strait late on Thursday and will move southeastwards to cross Tasmania on Friday as a new high pressure system forms in the Bight. Forecast for the rest of MondayMostly cloudy with isolated showers in the southeast and the northeast inland. Southwest to southerly winds, fresh at first along the coast.Tuesday 25 MarchScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the north and east. Generally dry in the central and southwestern districts. Mild to warm with light to moderate southeasterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally low to moderate.Wednesday 26 MarchScattered showers extending to most districts, with the chance of thunderstorms, mainly in the north. Mild to warm day with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Thursday 27 MarchRain areas extending across most districts and isolated thunderstorms. Mild day with moderate northeasterly winds.Friday 28 MarchRain areas and isolated thunderstorms contracting eastwards, but isolated showers remaining in the west.
