MELBOURNE - Mar 23/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will move through southern Victoria and Bass Strait during tonight and Monday morning. A strong high pressure system will develop over the Bight tonight then move slowly eastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea by late Tuesday. An inland trough will extend over northern Victoria on Tuesday, moving westwards on Wednesday as the high strengthens in the Tasman Sea. A small low pressure system will form over western Victoria late on Thursday as a weakening cold front moves through the Southern Ocean. Forecast for the rest of SundayFine apart from isolated coastal showers. Light south to southwesterly winds.Monday 24 MarchCool in the south, mild in the north. Partly cloudy with isolated showers, mainly on and south of the ranges. Generally moderate southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger - Moderate to high.Tuesday 25 MarchIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the north. Generally dry in the south. Mild to warm with light to moderate southeasterly winds.Wednesday 26 MarchIsolated showers extending to most districts, with the chance of thunderstorms, mainly in the north. Mild to warm day with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Thursday 27 MarchRain areas extending across most central and western districts, showers in the remainder. Isolated thunderstorms.
