USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Mar 21/14 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Mar 21.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
   Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids were mixed.  Soybeans saw solid
gains on ongoing demand and a drop in Brazil’s crop volume.  Slow producer
selling and drought conditions in the western U.S. along with good exports lend
support to all grains.  Corn is also benefitting from higher ethanol prices.
Wheat had poor crop ratings in the southwest in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.  The
NOPA, crush report for February came in at 141.6 million bushels of soybeans
which was over trade estimates, but below the 157 million bushels in January.
Corn had bullish export sales of 745,800 mt (29.4 mb) all for 2013-2014
marketing year.  Soybeans had bullish export sales 639, 700 mt (23.5 mb) with
202,200 mt (7.4 mb) for 2013-2014 marketing year.  Wheat had export sales of
597,000 mt (21.9 mb) with 401,800 mt (14.8 mb) for 2013-2014 marketing year.
Wheat was mostly 15-44 cents higher.  Corn was mostly 4-12 cents lower.  Sorghum
was 11-21 cents lower.  Soybeans were 37-49 cents higher.
   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 30
1/4 to 44 1/4 cents higher from 9.07-9.17 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Soft
Red winter rail bid was not quoted.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter
terminal bid was 30 to 35 cents higher from 7.23-7.37 per bushel.  Minneapolis
and Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was
5 1/4 to 15 1/4 cents lower from 9.55 1/4-9.80 1/4 per bushel.  Portland US Soft
White wheat rail was 15 to 24 3/4 cents higher from 7.55-7.78 1/2 per bushel.
   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 4 to 5 cents lower from 4.88-
4.98 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 6 1/2 cents lower
from 4.71 1/2-4.73 1/2 per bushel.  Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 7 to 12
cents lower from 4.44-4.53 per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 4 1/2 to
42 1/2 cents lower from 4.15 1/2-4.74 1/2 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail
Yellow corn was 6 1/2 cents lower from 4.53 1/2-4.59 1/2 per bushel.
Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow corn rail no bid per bushel.
   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 10 to 26 cents lower from 4.19-4.65 per bushel.  US No 3 or better rail
malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was 10 cents
higher at 6.00 per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export
was not available.
   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 12 cents lower at 8.54 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 11 to 21 cents lower from 8.28-8.35 per cwt.
   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 49 1/2 cents higher at
14.10 3/4 per bushel.  Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 37
1/2 to 49 1/2 cents higher from 14.43 3/4-14.63 3/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US
No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were 37 1/2 cents higher at 14.43 3/4 per bushel.
Central Illinois 48 percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 21.60 to 24.60
higher from 498.50-506.50 per ton.  Central Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor
bid was 168 to 169 points lower from 39.56-40.31 cents per pound.
