Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front over central Victoria will continue more eastwards across the State tonight. A weak ridge of high pressure develop just south of Victoria on Saturday, then the next cold front will move through Bass Strait on Sunday. Another ridge of high pressure will develop south of Victoria on Monday and Tuesday as a trough from New South Wales extends southwards to northern Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers and thunderstorms over the east, clearing eastwards. Patchy rain over the south, contracting southeastwards. Isolated showers elsewhere, contracting to the south. Possible raised dust over the northwest until early this evening. Fresh southwest to southerly winds over the south and west extending northeastwards.Saturday 22 MarchIsolated showers in the southeast and near the coast but fine elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms in the far east clearing by early afternoon. Cool and mostly cloudy in the south, but mild and mostly sunny north of the divide. Light to moderate southerly winds.Fire Danger -  Moderate to high.Sunday 23 MarchIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Fine and partly cloudy in the north. Cool to mild with fresh southwesterly wind.Monday 24 MarchCool and partly cloudy with isolated showers on and south of the dividing range. Dry, mild and mainly sunny over the north. Generally moderate southerly winds.Tuesday 25 MarchIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the north during the afternoon and evening. Mild to warm with light to moderate southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
