MELBOURNE - Mar 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front and associated low pressure trough will cross Victoria today. A weak ridge of high pressure develop just south of Victoria on Saturday, then the next cold front will move through Bass Strait on Sunday. Another ridge of high pressure will develop south of Victoria on Monday as a trough from New South Wales extends southwards to northern Victoria. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers and thunderstorms developing over the east. A band of rain in the southwest during the morning but becoming patchy as it extends eastwards late morning and during the afternoon. Mostly dry over the far northwest with possible raised dust developing during the afternoon. Warm northerly winds over eastern areas at first, but cooler, fresh southwest to southerly winds gradually extending from the west.Fire Danger - High to Very High.Saturday 22 MarchIsolated showers in the southeast and about the coast but fine elsewhere. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, but milder north of the divide. Light to moderate southerly winds.Sunday 23 MarchIsolated showers, mainly in the south. Cool to mild with fresh southwesterly wind.Monday 24 MarchCool and partly cloudy with isolated showers on and south of the dividing range. Dry, mild and mainly sunny over the north.
