MELBOURNE - Mar 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high is centred over the Tasman Sea. A moderate to fresh southerly change, strong near the coasts, will move across the State today. A series of high pressure systems will pass to the south of the state over the next few days maintaining a milder south to southerly airstream over the state. Forecast for the rest of FridayMorning rain about the Upper South East, Lower South East, Kangaroo Island and the south of the Fleurieu Peninsula. Isolated showers over remaining southern agricultural areas with possible isolated showers over the northern agricultural area and West Coast district, contracting east and clearing in the afternoon. Possible isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the north of the Flinders and Northeast pastoral. Cool to mild in the south grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds extending across the State, strong about the coasts in the morning. Light to moderate easterly winds in the far northeast.Saturday 22 MarchFine apart from possible isolated showers developing over the West Coast and Lower Eyre Peninsula districts and Kangaroo Island during the late afternoon and evening. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and moderate coastal sea breezes, fresh in the west.Sunday 23 MarchIsolated showers extending over the agricultural area and southern parts of the Pastoral districts then contracting northwards and clearing in the evening. Isolated showers persisting over southern coastal areas. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Monday 24 MarchFine apart from isolated showers about southern coasts and ranges. Cool to mild in the south grading to mild to warm in the north. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday to midnight Monday are expected to be up to 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 5 about the southern agricultural area and reaching 5 to 15 mm over the Lower South East district.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area extending over the Riverland on Wednesday and the south of the Northeast Pastoral district on Thursday.
