MELBOURNE - Mar 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea will move slowly southeast during the next few days, maintaining a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast while a trough lies over the western inland. A weak cold front from the Southern Ocean is expected to enter the southwest on Friday, continuing to central parts on Saturday before stalling and weakening. Another trough appears likely to affect the region later on the weekend, and is likely to promote unsettled conditions across many districts into the new week. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers in all areas except the far west. Showers tending scattered over the southern inland, and about the northern coast. The chance of thunderstorms in all areas except in the far west and Northwest Slopes and Plains. Thunderstorms more likely from the Alpine area to eastern parts of the Lower Western district as the change moves through. Chiefly northeast to northwesterly winds, ahead of a southerly change in the southwest.Saturday 22 MarchIsolated showers and thunderstorms over central and eastern districts, more likely coast and ranges. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast, with southeast to southwesterly winds elsewhere.Sunday 23 MarchIsolated showers and thunderstorms in central and northern districts. Generally dry in the south. Northwest to northeast winds, becoming southerly in the south.Monday 24 MarchShowers in the eastern half, becoming scattered with possible thunderstorms in the northeast, and near the southern coast. Fine in the west.
