MELBOURNE - Mar 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high is centred over the Tasman Sea. A moderate to fresh southerly change, strong near the coasts, will move across the west of the State today and over the remainder on Friday. A new high to the southwest of Perth will extend another southerly change across the State on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayEarly fog patches about southern coasts, then a fine day until isolated showers develop about southern coastal districts in the evening, tending rain over Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast late evening. Possible isolated thunder over Kangaroo Island in the evening. Warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, tending moderate to fresh northwest in the southeast, ahead of a milder, fresh to strong southerly change developing in the far west.Friday 21 MarchPatchy morning rain about the Upper South East, Lower South East and Kangaroo Island forecast districts. Isolated showers over remaining southern agricultural areas with possible isolated showers extending to the northern agricultural area and West Coast district. Showers easing and clearing to the southeast during the afternoon. Possible isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast corner. Cool to mild in the south grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds extending across the State, strong about the coasts in the morning. Light to moderate easterly winds in the far northeast.Saturday 22 MarchFine apart from possible isolated showers developing over the West Coast district during the afternoon. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and moderate coastal sea breezes, fresh in the west.Sunday 23 MarchIsolated showers moving eastwards across the northern agricultural area and southern parts of the Pastoral districts, clearing in the afternoon. Isolated showers developing over southern agricultural areas during the afternoon. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds extending throughout. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday morning to midnight Sunday are expected to be up to 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 5 about the southeastern districts, with isolated falls possibly reaching 5 to 15 mm about the Lower South East.Monday until WednesdayFine apart from isolated showers about southern coast and ranges. Cool to mild in the south grading to mild to warm in the north.
