MELBOURNE - Mar 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system Victoria is moving eastwards and will be located over the Tasman Sea by Thursday. A cold front and associated low pressure trough will cross Victoria on Friday. A weak ridge of high pressure will extend over the State on Saturday, then the next front will move through Bass Strait on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine tonight with light winds inland and evening seabreezes near the coast.Thursday 20 MarchFine apart from early morning fog patches in the south. A generally warm and mainly sunny with light to moderate northerly winds. Milder afternoon coastal seabreezes developing along parts of the coast.Fire Danger - Generally high to very highFriday 21 MarchScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east. A band of rain entering the southwest during the morning but becoming patchy as it extends eastwards late morning and during the afternoon. Dry over the far northwest. Warm northerly winds over eastern areas at first, but cooler, fresh southwest to southerly winds gradually extending from the west.Saturday 22 MarchIsolated showers in the southeast contracting eastwards and later clearing. Fine over the northern plains and over the wast. Generally mild with light to moderate southerly winds.Sunday 23 MarchIsolated showers, mainly in the south.
