Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front moved into southwestern New South Wales late yesterday, and is continuing through central parts towards the northeast today, accompanied by unsettled conditions in many areas. Behind this, a cooler and drier airstream is spreading over the region as the next high pressure ridge pushes across from the west. The northeast may remain a little unsettled early in the new week due to a lingering trough, with other parts expecting generally benign weather under a fairly weak pressure pattern.
Forecast for the rest of SundayThe chance of showers in all districts, more likely about central parts of the coast, the central and northern ranges, and western slopes. Thunderstorms are also likely in these areas. Far western districts mostly clearing by mid-afternoon, with southern and central areas clearing in the late afternoon or evening. North to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong about the tablelands and northeast before a drier southwesterly change extends across western, southern and central areas, reaching the northeast at night. Dangerous surf conditions along the entire coast.Fire Danger -  Very high: Far North Coast, North Coast, New England, Northern Slopes, North Western.Monday 17 MarchFine apart from the chance of showers in the northeast. Mostly sunny. West to southwesterly winds in the south, tending south to southeasterly in the north.Tuesday 18 MarchIsolated showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms over the northern tablelands. The chance of showers over the southern Alps. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds inland, tending northeasterly near the coast.Wednesday 19 MarchScattered showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers about the remainder of the coast and eastern ranges. Dry elsewhere. Southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Sunday.Product IDN10031
