Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weakening ridge extends from a high over the southern Tasman Sea to the northern New South Wales coast, while a cold front approaches the state from the southwest. This frontal system will reach the southwestern border area late today, continuing to northeastern districts during Sunday accompanied by unsettled conditions in many areas. Behind this, a cooler and drier airstream is forecast to move across the region as the next high pressure ridge pushes across from the west. The northeast may remain a little unsettled due to a lingering trough early in the new week, with other areas expecting generally benign weather under a weak pressure pattern.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers and thunderstorms in the southwest, locally gusty. Isolated showers in remaining southern, western and central districts with isolated thunderstorms possible. Partly cloudy in the northeast. Northwest to northeasterly winds, fresh to strong and gusty across the south and reaching gale force on the Snowy Mountains tonight. A cooler southwesterly change in the far southwest tonight.Sunday 16 MarchIsolated showers in all districts, tending scattered about the central part of the coast, and the central and northern ranges and western slopes with thunderstorms likely. North to northwest winds, fresh to strong about the ranges and northern coast before a drier southwesterly change extends across western, southern and central areas, reaching the northeast at night. Dangerous surf conditions.Fire Danger -  Very high for Far North Coast, North Coast, New England, Northern Slopes, North Western.Monday 17 MarchFine apart from the chance of showers in the northeast. Mostly sunny. West to southwesterly winds in the south, tending south to southeasterly in the north.Tuesday 18 MarchIsolated showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms over the northern tablelands. The chance of showers over the southern Alps. Southwest to southeasterly winds inland, tending northeasterly near the coast.Wednesday 19 MarchScattered showers and thunderstorms in the northeast.
