MELBOURNE - Mar 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weakening ridge extends from a high over the southern Tasman Sea to the northern New South Wales coast, while a trough and associated cold front approach the state from the southwest. This frontal system will reach the western border later today, continuing to northeastern districts during Sunday accompanied by unsettled conditions in many areas. Behind this, a cooler and drier airstream is forecast to move across the region as the next high pressure ridge pushes across from the west. The northeast may remain a little unsettled due to a lingering trough early in the new week, with other areas expecting generally benign weather under a weak pressure pattern. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayEarly fog patches along the coast and ranges. Isolated showers in the southwest, becoming scattered in the afternoon with the chance of thunderstorms. Isolated showers developing in the southeast during the afternoon, mainly on the tablelands. Possible afternoon/evening showers about central and northern districts, with the chance of thunder on the tablelands. Northwest to northeasterly winds, becoming fresh to strong and gusty across the south. A cooler southwesterly change in the southwest later in the day.Fire Danger - Very High: Far South Coast, North Western, Northern Riverina.Sunday 16 MarchPartly cloudy. Fine and mostly sunny in the southwest. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered over the ranges and slopes during the afternoon, with possible thunderstorms in central and northeastern districts. Southwesterly winds in the southwest, extending through central parts towards the northeast and becoming fresh and gusty in many areas.Monday 17 MarchFine apart from the chance of showers in the northeast.
