Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system will move slowly eastwards across New Zealand during tonight and Thursday. A new high pressure system is forming over Bight waters and will push across Bass Strait on Thursday to link with the first high pressure system over New Zealand by Friday. A deepening low pressure system will cross the Southern Ocean on Saturday and an associated trough will reach western Victoria in the morning, moving to eastern Victoria at night. The trough will move through far eastern Victoria early on Sunday morning, as another front approaches western Victoria on Sunday night.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers in far eastern areas, clearing in the evening. Light southwest to southerly winds.Thursday 13 MarchLocal morning fog in the south and east., otherwise fine. Mild in the south, warm in the north and mostly sunny. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger -  Moderate to high.Friday 14 MarchFine apart from isolated morning fogs in the south and the chance of afternoon showers in the far east. A warm mostly sunny day with light wind tending northerly and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Saturday 15 MarchRain areas and local thunderstorms spreading eastwards across the State, reaching the east at night. Warm, moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler west to southwesterly change, reaching the southwest in the morning and the east at night.Sunday 16 MarchIsolated thunderstorms clearing from the east. Scattered showers contracting to coastal districts in the afternoon and evening. Cool with fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
