Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high 1025 hPa south of the Bight extends a weak ridge over the State. On Thursday the high will move eastwards and weaken. A deep low will move south of the State over the weekend. An associated cold front will move into the far west of the State later on Friday and move across the remainder on Saturday, with cooler, fresh to strong southwesterly winds after the front. A weak high pressure ridge will extend over the State early next week.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the Flinders district and the pastoral districts south of Oodnadatta. Mild in the south grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Thursday 13 MarchMorning fog patches over Eyre Peninsula and the West Coast. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the Northeast Pastoral district north of Leigh Creek. Mild to warm in the south, grading to hot in the far north. Light to moderate southerly winds and moderate coastal sea breezes.Friday 14 MarchMorning fog patches over central and eastern agricultural areas. Isolated showers and thunderstorms extending from the west during the day. Warm in the south, hot in the north. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds and moderate afternoon sea breezes. Winds shifting moderate to fresh southwesterly in the far west during the late afternoon and evening.Saturday 15 MarchIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms extending across southern parts of the State during the day, then over northern and eastern parts during the evening. Showers becoming scattered about southern coasts and ranges in the evening. Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds shifting cooler, fresh to strong southwesterly from the west.Sunday 16 MarchIsolated showers over the agricultural area. Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms over the Lower South East during the morning. Possible showers and thunderstorms over the Northeast Pastoral during the morning. Cool to mild with fresh southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday morning until midnight on Sunday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the agricultural area, increasing to 5 to 10 mm about southern coasts and ranges with local falls of 10 to 20 mm. Less than 2 mm is expected over the pastoral districts, however isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers over eastern agricultural areas on Monday, tending scattered over southern coasts and ranges. Isolated showers over southern coasts and ranges on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mild with light to moderate east to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
