MELBOURNE - Mar 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A middle level disturbance over central parts of the State is moving gradually northeastwards. A high 1026 hPa south of the Bight will move east and weaken on Thursday. A cold front will move across the far west of the State later on Friday and the remainder on Saturday associated with a deep low well south of the State producing cooler, fresh to strong southwesterly winds after the front. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the Flinders district and the pastoral districts south of Oodnadatta. Possible isolated light early morning showers about southern coasts. Mild in the south grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Thursday 13 MarchIsolated showers and possible isolated thunderstorms over northern parts of the Flinders and pastoral districts. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the far north. Light to moderate south to southeast winds and moderate coastal sea breezes.Friday 14 MarchPossible isolated showers and thunderstorms in the early morning over the Northeast Pastoral district and developing from late afternoon over the Nullarbor Plain. Mild to warm in the south, hot in the north. Light to moderate northerly winds and moderate afternoon sea breezes. Winds shifting moderate to fresh southwesterly in the far west during the late afternoon and evening.Saturday 15 MarchPossible showers and thunderstorms extending across the southern and western parts of the State during the day, then over northern and eastern parts during the evening. Showers becoming isolated over the agricultural area during the afternoon and increasing to scattered about southern coasts and ranges by evening. Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds shifting cooler, fresh to strong southwesterly from the west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning until midnight on Saturday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the agricultural area, increasing to 5 to 10 mm about southern coasts and ranges. Less than 2 mm is expected over the pastoral districts, however isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered over the southern agricultural area during the morning, with possible thunderstorms about southern coasts. Possible showers over the pastorals and West Coast, clearing during the day. Isolated showers continuing about the agricultural areas on Monday, contracting to southern coasts on Tuesday.
