MELBOURNE - Mar 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will linger over northeastern Victoria during Thursday and Friday. A high pressure system south of the Bight will drift eastwards passing over Tasmania on Friday before reaching the Tasman Sea on Saturday then consolidating over the central Tasman on Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers in the east with possible afternoon thunderstorms about the northeast. Fine elsewhere. Mild in the south with morning cloud breaking up in the afternoon. Warmer north of the divide and mostly sunny. Light to moderate southerly winds over most of the State, locally fresh near the coast but winds more variable in the far east.Fire Danger - Moderate to High.Friday 7 MarchIsolated showers in the east with possible afternoon thunderstorms near the eastern ranges. Fine elsewhere apart from the chance of late showers along the Otway coast. Mild in the south, but warmer north of the divide with generally light to moderate southerly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon.Saturday 8 MarchIsolated showers in the east and south with possible afternoon thunderstorms near the eastern ranges. Fine elsewhere.
