MELBOURNE - Mar 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located over the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough that has pushed through most of the State today will linger over northeastern Victoria tonight and during Thursday and Friday. A new high pressure system south of the Bight will drift eastwards passing over Tasmania on Friday before reaching the Tasman Sea over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers and isolated thunderstorms over eastern districts. Fine elsewhere. Fresh and gusty south to southwesterly winds easing this evening.Thursday 6 MarchIsolated showers in the east with possible afternoon thunderstorms about the northeast. Fine elsewhere. Mild in the south, but warmer north of the divide with generally light southerly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon and inland during the evening.Fire Danger - Moderate to High.Friday 7 MarchIsolated showers in the east with possible afternoon thunderstorms near the eastern ranges. Fine elsewhere apart from the chance of late showers along the Otway coast. Mild in the south, but warmer north of the divide with generally light to moderate southerly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon.Saturday 8 MarchIsolated showers in the east and south with possible afternoon thunderstorms near the eastern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Mild in the south, but warmer north of the divide with generally light southeasterly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon.Sunday 9 MarchFine apart from the chance of isolated showers over the eastern ranges.
