MELBOURNE - Mar 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough lies over western New South Wales and Queensland, while high pressure system to the west of Tasmania extends a ridge into the Tasman Sea. The inland trough is forecast to weaken tonight and Monday as the high moves to the southwestern Tasman Sea. This high will strengthen a ridge along the New South Wales coast during the first half of the week. A cold front from the Southern Ocean should reach southern parts of the state during Wednesday, and a new trough is expected to deepen over the west on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayShowers in the north and east, tending scattered near the northern coast. Possible thunderstorms in the northwest. Fine across the southern and central inland. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Monday 3 MarchScattered showers about the northern coast and adjacent tablelands, easing late in the day. Isolated showers across the remaining northern districts, mainly afternoon, with the chance of thunderstorms in the northwest. Possible early showers near the southern and central coasts. Fine and partly cloudy across the southern and central inland. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 4 MarchShowers and possible thunderstorms in the west, increasing near the SA border in the afternoon. Isolated showers along the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 5 MarchShowers in the southwest, increasing through the day and extending into central and southeastern districts, possibly reaching the coast. The chance of showers on the north coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds, turning southerly in the south later.Thursday 6 MarchShowers and possible thunderstorms in northwest, central and southeast districts, increasing about the southern tablelands and western slopes. The chance of showers on the northern coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere.
