Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over northern Victoria will weaken tonight. A high pressure system south of the Bight extends a ridge eastwards to the Tasman Sea. The high will drift eastwards across Tasmania on Sunday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday. A cold front will pass south of the Bight on Tuesday to reach southwest Victoria at night then cross the remainder of southern Victoria on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers in the northeast and isolated showers possible over remaining eastern and far northern areas. The chance of thunderstorms over the northeast at first. Smoke over parts of Gippsland. Mostly cloudy with light to moderate southeasterly winds.Sunday 2 MarchIsolated showers in the south, contracting to Gippsland by the afternoon then clearing. Fine, warm and mostly sunny in the north. Mild in the south with morning cloud areas. Smoke over parts of Gippsland. Light to moderate south to southeast winds.Fire Danger -  Moderate to high.Monday 3 MarchBecoming fine and mainly sunny after early light showers about the Gippsland coast and local morning fogs in the south. Warm with light northeast winds inland but milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Tuesday 4 MarchFine apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the northwest during the afternoon. Very warm and mostly sunny with a light to moderate northerly wind ahead of a cooler southwesterly change in the southwest during the evening.Wednesday 5 MarchIsolated showers extending to most areas during the day and becoming scattered in the northeast. Warm at first in the north and east with light to moderate northerly winds but a milder southerly change slowly extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
