MELBOURNE - Feb 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will extend from NSW to northern Victoria during tonight and Saturday as a high pressure system south of the Bight extends a ridge eastwards to the Tasman Sea. The high will drift eastwards across Tasmania on Sunday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday. A cold front will be south of the Bight on Monday before approaching Victoria during Tuesday and entering the far southwest later. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine in the south. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over northern districts, mainly in central and eastern areas. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds and seabreezes near the coast.Saturday 1 MarchIsolated showers and thunderstorms over northern districts. Isolated morning showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Morning fog patches in the south. Mild to warm with light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, freshening along the coast.Fire Danger - Generally moderate but locally high in the west.Sunday 2 MarchIsolated morning showers over the south. Isolated showers possible over the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. Mild to warm moderate south to southeast winds, fresh at times along the coast at times.Monday 3 MarchFine and mainly sunny. Warm with light to moderate north to northeast winds inland but milder near the coast with freshening afternoon seabreezes.Tuesday 4 MarchIsolated showers developing in the west later but fine elsewhere.
