MELBOURNE - Feb 27/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough lies from the southern Mid North Coast to the Central Tablelands then back to the northwest of the state with thunderstorm activity associated. The trough will deepen in the west of NSW during Friday with a rain-band and embedded thunderstorms extending over that part of the state. A high will develop over the Tasman Sea tomorrow with a southeasterly stream onto the northern half of the coast. The pattern will change only slowly for Saturday with further rain areas expected in the west and showers in most eastern districts. The trough in the west is set to weaken on Sunday and Monday with the high in the Tasman becoming more dominant. Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas in the west, locally heavy with thunderstorms, though only patchy rain expected near the South Australian and Victorian borders. Isolated showers and drizzle patches in the east, tending more widespread and heavier about the Mid North Coast and Hunter where thunderstorms are possible. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Saturday 1 MarchRain areas in western and central parts, locally heavy with thunderstorms, though only patchy rain expected near the South Australian border. Scattered showers coast and ranges, isolated in the south. Partly cloudy remainder. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Sunday 2 MarchIsolated showers on the north and central coasts and in the western inland. Chance of a thunderstorm in the far west. Fine over the southeastern inland. East to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly on the south coast.Monday 3 MarchIsolated showers coast and ranges, and in the far west.
