Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over the far northeast will remain near stationary. A high pressure system centred south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards to be near Tasmania on Sunday then over the Tasman Sea early next week.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPossible isolated showers about southern and western coasts during the morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms northeast of about Moomba, increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast during the afternoon, with the chance of local heavy falls. Mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north with moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh near the coasts.Friday 28 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the North East Pastoral district north of about Marree, increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Moomba in the afternoon. Generally warm with moderate to locally fresh southeasterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Saturday 1 MarchIsolated showers and thunderstorms about the east of the North East Pastoral district. Generally warm with light to moderate southeasterly winds and moderate to fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes.Sunday 2 MarchIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the eastern districts north of about Keith and eastern parts of the Mid North and Flinders districts. Generally warm in the south grading to hot in the north with moderate southeasterly winds, fresh at times about the coast. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday to midnight Sunday are expected to be generally less than 1 mm about southern and western coasts. Falls of 2 to 10 mm are forecast northeast of about Oodnadatta to Broken Hill increasing to 20 to 40 mm northeast of Moomba, with possible local falls of 40 to 60 mm.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the eastern districts north of about Keith and eastern parts of the Mid North and Flinders districts contracting to northeast of Leigh Creek on Wednesday. Possible isolated showers about southern and western coasts from Tuesday. Generally warm in the south grading to hot in the north with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, fresh at times about the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
