MELBOURNE - Feb 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure centre over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the New South Wales north coast, while a broad trough of low pressure lies from the state's west to southeast. This trough will move east today and Thursday under the influence of a frontal system approaching from the Southern Ocean, stalling over the northeast by Friday. A high pressure system moving in behind the front will shift to the Tasman Sea at the end of the week, extending a new ridge along the New South Wales coast and aiding in the development of another inland trough. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine in the northeast and southwest. Showers elsewhere, tending scattered in northwest, central and southeast districts. Scattered thunderstorms in central and southeastern parts, possibly extending further to the northwest and east. North to northeasterly winds turning southerly across the south and west.Thursday 27 FebruaryFine in the southwest and northeast. Showers elsewhere, tending scattered in northwest, central and southeast districts. Scattered thunderstorms in the northern and central inland, possibly extending further east. Northerly winds in the northeast, with south to southeasterly winds extending across the remainder.Friday 28 FebruaryFine in the southwest. Showers elsewhere, tending scattered with possible thunderstorms in the west. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Saturday 1 MarchIsolated showers, tending scattered along the north coast and in the west. The chance of thunderstorms in the west. Fine and partly cloudy over parts of the northern inland. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Sunday 2 MarchIsolated showers on the north and central coasts and in the far western inland.
