Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure centre over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the New South Wales north coast, while a broad trough of low pressure lies over the state's far west. This trough will move east during Wednesday and Thursday under the influence of a frontal system approaching from the Southern Ocean, stalling over the northeast as a new trough develops in the far west.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms from the west to the Alps, more likely near the trough in the far west. The chance of showers along the northern coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to northeasterly winds, freshening on the south coast, turning southerly in the far southwest later in the day.Wednesday 26 FebruaryFine and partly cloudy in the northeast. Fine and mostly sunny in the far southwest. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere, tending scattered near the trough in the west and south. North to northeasterly winds turning southerly across the south and west.Thursday 27 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny in the southwest and partly cloudy in the northeast. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere, tending scattered near the trough from the northern inland to the southeast. Northerly winds in the northeast, with south to southeasterly winds extending across the remainder.Friday 28 FebruaryIsolated showers, tending scattered with isolated thunderstorms in the far west. Showers increasing to rain near central parts of the coast. Fine and sunny in the far southwest. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Saturday 1 MarchIsolated showers, tending scattered along the coast and in the far west. The chance of thunderstorms in the far west.
