Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure will remain over the northeast of the State throughout the week. A cold front will move over waters south of the State during Tuesday crossing Tasmania Wednesday morning then moving to the Tasman Sea. A high southwest of Western Australia will move eastwards to be centred south of the Bight on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast and possibly along the northern border. Light to moderate southeasterly winds and moderate to locally fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes.Tuesday 25 FebruaryEarly morning fog patches about the southern agricultural area and West Coast district. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast. Possible isolated showers north of Marla and near the New South Wales border. Mild about southern coasts, grading to warm to hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, becoming moderate to locally fresh during the afternoon.Wednesday 26 FebruaryPossible isolated showers about southern coastal districts and the West Coast district, more likely over windward coasts. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the east of the Northeast Pastoral district, increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Moomba with the chance of locally heavy falls about the far northeast corner. Cool to mild about the coasts grading to warm to hot in the north with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Thursday 27 FebruaryPossible isolated showers over the North East Pastoral district north of about Leigh Creek increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Moomba. Mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north with moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh near the coasts.Friday 28 FebruaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms northeast of about Marla to Yunta, increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast. Generally warm with moderate to locally fresh southeasterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday afternoon to midnight Friday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm increasing towards the northeast with 2 to 10 mm northeast of about Oodnadatta to Broken Hill increasing to 20 to 50 mm northeast of Moomba with local falls in excess of 50 mm possible about the far northeast corner.Saturday until MondayPossible showers and thunderstorms about eastern districts. Generally warm with light to moderate southeasterly winds and moderate to fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033
