Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 23/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of Adelaide extends a ridge eastwards across southern Victoria to another high over the Tasman Sea. A cold front and associated trough will move over waters south of the Bight on Monday and will cross Victoria on Tuesday, but is expected to stall over northeast Victoria Tuesday night. The trough will linger over northeast Victoria on Wednesday and Thursday as the next high pressure system moves from south of the Bight towards Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of MondayLocal early morning fog in the south and areas of smoke haze over Gippsland otherwise a fine day apart from isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the far eastern ranges. Warm and sunny over the north. Milder in the south with patchy cloud clearing during the morning. Generally light winds inland and seabreezes freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Generally high.Tuesday 25 FebruaryFine during the morning. Isolated afternoon showers or thunderstorms over central and eastern districts during the afternoon and evening and also over the northwest. Warm with moderate to fresh north to northwest winds ahead of a milder southwesterly change extending from the western border.Wednesday 26 FebruaryPartly cloudy with isolated showers possible over most districts and the chance of storms over the north and east. Generally mild with light to moderate southerly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon.Thursday 27 FebruaryLocal morning drizzle in the south. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the northeast but fine elsewhere. Generally mild with moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
