MELBOURNE - Feb 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight will extend a ridge eastwards across southern Victoria today to another high developing over the Tasman Sea. A cold front over the Southern Ocean will clip Tasmania tonight. The next cold front and associated front will cross waters south of the Bight on Monday and will cross Victoria on Tuesday, but is expected to stall over northeast Victoria Tuesday night. The trough will linger over northeast Victoria on Wednesday as the next high pressure system moves south of the Bight. Forecast for the rest of SundayFine. Warm and sunny over the north, but milder in the south with areas of cloud clearing to a generally sunny afternoon. Light winds inland and seabreezes freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Generally highMonday 24 FebruaryFine apart from isolated afternoon showers over the far eastern ranges. Warm and sunny over the north. Milder in the south with patchy cloud clearing during the morning. Warm with moderate to fresh north to northwest winds ahead of a milder southwesterly change extending from the western border.Wednesday 26 FebruaryPartly cloudy with isolated showers possible over most districts and the chance of storms over the northeast.
