MELBOURNE - Feb 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep low pressure system is moving away across the southern Tasman Sea, while a high pressure system south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards to be south of Adelaide by Saturday night with a ridge extending through southern Victoria. A cold front will reach Tasmania by Sunday night, while the high will bubble across Bass Strait to settle over the central Tasman Sea on Monday. A stronger cold front will move across southern Victoria on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayMostly cloudy with isolated showers or drizzle in the south. Fine over the north. Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Saturday 22 FebruaryCloudy at first south of the divide with isolated showers or drizzle, contracting to the coast and mostly clearing during the morning or by early afternoon. Sunny over the northern inland. Mild with a moderate south to southwesterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally High.Sunday 23 FebruaryFine apart from isolated early morning showers or drizzle patches clearing from East Gippsland. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day. Light winds and freshening afternoon coastal sea breezes.Monday 24 FebruaryFine apart from local morning drizzle about the exposed coast. Warm and sunny inland but milder near the coast. Light winds inland tending northerly and freshening afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Tuesday 25 FebruaryIsolated afternoon showers or thunderstorms developing over the northeast and isolated showers developing later in the far southwest. Fine over the remainder.
