MELBOURNE - Feb 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep low pressure system is centred to the southeast of Tasmania, with an associated trough extending through northeast New South Wales. This trough will move east and weaken today as a high pressure system south of WA pushes a ridge across southeast Australia. This ridge is expected to strengthen along the New South Wales coast during the weekend, while a weak trough remains over the northern inland. A new high is forecast to develop over the Tasman Sea later on the weekend, and should remain the dominant synoptic feature in the region until the next significant trough moves through the region during Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered about the tablelands in the afternoon. The chance of thunderstorms on the northern ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds, freshening about the coast and in the far west.Saturday 22 FebruaryIsolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered near the coast. The chance of showers or drizzle about the southern and central coasts. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.
