MELBOURNE - Feb 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deepening low is centred near Tasmania, with an associated trough of low pressure bringing rain and storms to northeast New South Wales today. Behind this, a strengthening high pressure system south of WA is forecast to extend a ridge across southeast Australia during Friday and Saturday, before a new high develops over the western Tasman Sea later on the weekend. The next significant trough is expected to move through the region during Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the northeast, easing during the evening. Thunderstorms possibly severe. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Cooler, drier southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout, fresh and gusty in the far west and southeast.Friday 21 FebruaryIsolated showers in the northeast, and about the central coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of thunderstorms about the northern ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds.Saturday 22 FebruaryIsolated showers in the northeast, and about the central coast and ranges. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere.
