MELBOURNE - Feb 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is crossing the southern Tasman Sea and a low pressure trough over central New South Wales is contracting to the northeast. Sea. This trough will weaken over the northeast of the state during Thursday as high pressure system moves south of the Bight extending a ridge across the west and southeast. The next trough is expected to move through the state on Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers and isolated thunderstorms over the northeast half, with rain areas and scattered thunderstorms about of the northeastern quarter. Thunderstorms possibly locally severe. The chance of showers in the far southern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. North to northeast winds, turning cooler, drier southwesterly in the west and southeast.Thursday 20 FebruaryRain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the northeast, contracting east and easing. Thunderstorms possibly severe. Mostly sunny remainder.
