Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure system is located just east of Tasmanian and extends a surface trough northwards to the central NSW coast. The low will continue to deepen and move southeastwards to be located over the south Tasman Sea later today, and near the south island of New Zealand by late Monday. A weak ridge of high pressure will briefly extend over Victoria on Monday, then a low pressure trough will cross mainly southern Victoria on Tuesday. A stronger cold front will approach western Victoria on Tuesday night, moving across the State on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayCloudy periods with scattered showers on and south of the ranges, clearing from the west during the morning and contracting to far East Gippsland by the evening. Isolated thunderstorms in the east, clearing by mid afternoon. Isolated showers clearing from the northeast inland, otherwise dry north of the divide. Cool to mild in the south, warmer over inland areas. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger -  Mainly high.Monday 17 FebruaryIsolated showers over the southeast clearing during the morning. Dry elsewhere. Mild in the south, warmer north of the divide with generally light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Tuesday 18 FebruaryIsolated showers in he southeast and developing in the southwest later in the day. Mild to warm and partly cloudy with variable winds, tending moderate southwesterly.Wednesday 19 FebruaryScattered showers extending across southern and mountain districts, extending over the northern plains in the morning. Snowfalls above 1600 metres about the alpine area and possible hail in the south. Cool to cold with fresh to strong southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
