Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low over the Northeast Pastoral district will move eastwards to be over Queensland this evening. A high west of the Bight will move eastwards and weaken on Sunday, followed by a front moving to the south of the State on Monday. Another high will develop south of Western Australia on Tuesday with a stronger cold front expected to move over the south of the State on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Oodnadatta to Broken Hill, with local heavy falls and local flooding, all contracting east to be northeast of Moomba late evening. Scattered showers about the Mid North and Flinders districts. Isolated showers over the remainder, contracting to the southern agricultural area this evening. Warm to hot with moderate northerly winds in the far northeast, mild with moderate to fresh south to southwest winds over the remainder.Sunday 16 FebruaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast, contracting eastwards and clearing during the evening. Fine over the remainder apart from possible isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, clearing during the afternoon. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north with mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Monday 17 FebruaryPossible isolated showers developing about southern and western coasts in the afternoon and evening. Mild in the south, grading to warm in the north with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 18 FebruaryPossible isolated showers about southern and western coastal districts, becoming more likely about southern coasts during the evening. Mild in the south, grading to warm in the north with moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 19 FebruaryIsolated showers over the agricultural areas and West Coast, more likely about the southern agricultural area. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds. Cool to mild in the south and mild to warm in the north. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday to midnight wednesday are expected to be 10 to 30 mm northeast of about Oodnadatta to Broken Hill, with isolated falls of 30 to 50 mm possible, mainly associated with thunderstorms. 1 to 5 mm is expected over the remainder of the State, with the higher part of this range expected to be mainly about the southern agricultural area.Thursday until SaturdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and parts of the West Coast, clearing later on Thursday, then fine apart from a possible shower developing in the far northeast on Saturday. Moderate southwest to southeast winds, fresh at times. Cool to mild in the south, mild to warm in the north.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Sunday.Product IDS10033
